Why remove the intake flaps?
The intake flaps are a well-known weakness on these engines. Their failure can cause serious engine damage. Removing them avoids this risk, improves overall reliability, and provides a gain in torque and power in certain engine speed ranges.
This procedure is highly recommended and ideally performed at the same time as cleaning the EGR valve.
