What lowering do you choose for your vehicle? Too many choices? We explain everything.

You want to improve the look of your vehicle or its road outfit?

Playing on lowering is possible, through the installation of short suspension springs. This lowers the centre of gravity of the vehicle and thus improves its road holding.

On most vehicles, the original springs can be changed by shorter springs. Under the weight of the vehicle, the shock absorbers are then reduced by the additional stress.

You can find complete kits, consisting of new dampers and short springs, or mount springs on your current dampers.

Your choice will be to confirm with the garage that will make you the assembly, to ensure good compatibility of the parts and the levels of wear of the original parts.

Adjustment of vehicle geometry will also be necessary due to the change in tire support.

The laying of springs is also a manipulation requiring a specific tooling and professional skills.

Short springs are sometimes numerous, and differ from one manufacturer to another by their firmness or lowering. We advise you to contact us if you need to refine your choices.

But in general, here is an easy technique to measure on the vehicle what will be the lowering once the springs are laid.

First of all, know that a lowering will have an aesthetic effect related to the size of the rims. These measures are indicative and may vary according to the tyre/jante lift. If you change it, the aesthetic rendering will be different.

1/ Make sure you have parked the vehicle on a flat floor, empty of any heavy load or passengers.

2/ Place a meter to the ground and measure the vertical distance from the centre of the rim to the highest point of the wheel passage (align the vertical of these points).

3/ With the thumb, note the wheel passage point on the meter, and drag your thumb to the lowering provided by the spring.
