How does the Haldex Performance case work?
Improve the motor skills of your 4x4 VAG with Borgwarner perfromance (Haldex coupling).
Through its competition branch, Borgwarner has developed from the first generations of Haldex couplers, improved control boxes.
The 4x4 is no longer permanent as it could have been on the old generations of Torsen bridges. Now, rear wheel motor is electronically managed according to information sent by different sensors (ABS, ESP...etc...).
When the need is felt, the vehicle calculator triggers the rear wheels. The case that manages the rear deck clutch is the Halex coupling. He embarks a program, a map, which will allow him to dose the % of the trigger.
Performance boxes are identical to the original, apart from this famous cartography. And that's all the difference. With the Borgwarner performance system, the operating ranges are optimized.
The second and fourth generation models, for example, take 3 maps. You'll need the remote control or control button to switch from one to another.
For example, ECO, Standard or RACE mode.
The goal is not to balance the % of front/rear torque, but to react faster, on longer operating ranges following the selected mapping to improve motor skills according to the use you make of the vehicle.
Mappings work a bit like DSG boxes, with at least "clamp" on clutch discs.
