Is a downpipe compatible with my original line?

Can I mount a decata or sports cata on my original line?

Well, the answer is... yes and no!

In most cases, downpipes cata/decata have a larger diameter than the original exhaust. They finish their race at an original junction of the line. Just before the middle part begins.

These parts are rather designed to get up after installing a cat-back, which is itself a larger diameter, they are not compatible with the original line.

Except in some cases. As for example if the downpipe cata/decata has a diameter identical to the original line (and you will see this info in the product description) or if it is sold with a reducing sleeve.

In this second case, the annotation "compatible with the original line" will be indicated in the product description.

In all other cases catas/catas are compatible only with the sport line that goes in continuity.

Why? and well because the downpipe cata/decata are usually elements that are replaced last. The tube diameter is larger, if it ends on a smaller intermediate tube of origin it will create a gas noose and disrupt the flow of gas. Think about your sports exhaust, starting with the end. A large diameter at the end, and the smallest at the beginning. We must imagine the flow of exhaust gases as in a watering pipe.
