Why remove the EGR valve?

The EGR valve recycles part of the exhaust gas in the intake to reduce the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gas, including ozone air pollution and thin particulate precursors. This technique, in addition to shutting down the engine and then generating clouds of black smoke, impoverished the air/fuel mixture. By adding exhaust gas in fresh air, the vehicle is more pushy.
