What does the PCV system do?

The PCV system (crankcase ventilation) sends oil vapour and blow-by gases back to the intake instead of venting them to the open air. The diaphragm inside the cover regulates the vacuum in the crankcase. Over time, heat and vibration harden or tear it, and the regulation no longer works properly.

Why replace the cover together with the diaphragm?

Changing the whole assembly means you start again with a new cover and a new diaphragm, without reusing a part that is already worn. It is also simpler: one reference to order and fit.

Signs of a worn PCV system

• Whistling noise from the engine at idle or low revs
• Unstable idle, hesitation or stalling
• Rising oil consumption
• Check engine light (depending on the ECU)
• Oil seepage at gaskets caused by crankcase overpressure
