• The EA113 TFSI 2.0 engine appeared in 2004 and was designed on the basis of the naturally aspirated VW 2.0 FSI (150hp) engine with direct fuel injection.
• The main difference between the two engines is the letter T, which means - Turbocharged. The engine has been reinforced to maintain higher power.
• The 2.0 TFSI engine has a cast iron cylinder block instead of an aluminum one. Inside the new engine block there are two balance shafts, another more robust crankshaft, new pistons and connecting rods for a lower compression ratio.
• The cylinder head has a double cam and 16 valves is mounted on the block. The cylinder head has new reinforced camshafts, valves, valve springs. The 2.0 TFSI engine is equipped with a variable valve timing system for the intake camshaft only, direct fuel injection, hydraulic lifters.
• The engine uses the small BorgWarner K03 turbocharger (maximum pressure is 0.9 bar), which achieves high torque from 1800 rpm. More powerful engine versions are equipped with a high-performance turbocharger - KKK K04.
• The EA113 TFSI 2.0 engine is fitted to a very wide range of vehicles, from the Golf 5 Gti (1K), through the Golf 6R, but it is also found on other vehicles such as the POLO WRC, the Audi A1 Quattro, the Gti ED35, the Jetta or even the Audi A6.
• The EA113 TFSI 2.0 engine has power ranging from 170 to 272 hp (125 to 200 kW) and torque from 199 to 258 lb-ft (270 to 350 Nm).
